Learn more about the Boston Terrier.
Baxter is a 5 year old neutered male BT who was turned into AZBTR because he was not doing well with the new baby in the home. We were told he originally came from an animal shelter in North Carolina. Baxter is a very sweet handsome boy. I had the pleasure of his company on Saturday and he is such a fun dog! He is currently being fostered at Home Fur Good Animal Shelter and attending some training classes to teach him how to be a good boy. He is VERY smart and needs a family who understands the breed. Baxter wants to please and really responds to correction. He is probably about 24 lbs and has a beautiful coat. He is not very tolerant of other dogs but we are working on him with that. He is being treated for a mild case of Heartworm with Heartguard and is doing fine. It is nothing to be concerned with as far as we are concerned. Baxter went home with his new dad last weekend. He will be the only dog in his home and won't have to share his dad with anyone. We feel this is a perfect match for Baxter. What a sweetheart he is.. he just needed to be taught to be a good boy!
UPDATE: Baxter is back with AZBTR. He has proven to be 100% housetrained and will use a doggy door. While he does well with some dogs, mostly the larger dogs, he has socialization issues with dogs his size or smaller. Baxter will need to go to a home with Boston experience and someone willing to work with him on his socialization skills and love him for the rest of his life even if he proves to insist on being the only dog in the home. He is patiently awaiting a committed and loving owner. UPDATE: JUNE 2012 The decison is final--Baxter insists he be the the solo dog in the home. In return, he will give you his undivided attention, plenty of BT 'hugs' and kisses. He adores people and craves love and attention. He's healthy, happy and more than ready for someone who will love having one dog. Baxter has been adopted by a couple in Phoenix. He is going to training classes, getting lots of exercise and loving his new life!
