Chug, formerly known as Chicken Nuggee, is a French Bulldog mix found as a stray. He came into rescue via Maricopa County Animal Control New Hope program. When you see his darling underbite, perky ears, and soft coppery brown eyes, you'll be charmed by such an open and sweet gaze. This well-muscled boy's reaction to new people is friendly tail wagging and occasionally jumping up to greet you closer. This boy needs a strong and patient owner to help him learn to be his best boy self. His training is still a work in progress.

Chug is a young dog, so he has lots of energy and needs help being sure it is channeled appropriately. Once he is done with play, he is very content to snuggle or train with treats and affirmation. We suggest he not be around young children or elderly or physically unstable people yet because in his boisterous play, he could knock them down and frighten or injure them accidentally. Chug is just learning about things like rope and chew toys and tether tugs. He will run to a ball when it's thrown, but he hasn't caught on yet that the game is more fun if he brings the ball back...

Chug walks on leash (though he is not yet consistent with his positioning or trained to "heel"). He does pull some in anticipation until he settles into the rhythm, but that does not take long. He has not been reactive to other dogs during walks. He rides in the car anywhere you want to go. He will enter his crate with a treat and a kind request, and has not been destructive of his bedding or toy when he is crated. Chug was recently neutered and is just learning the dog door situation (so a belly band has been his foster's best friend to prevent marking in the house).
