Dixie is a sweet 5 year old girl who just wants to be loved! Within minutes of meeting someone new, she has already crawled up into their lap looking for hugs and kisses. She will make herself at home on the furniture, especially if it means that she gets to rest her head on a shoulder. 

When she first came into the rescue, it was apparent that she was not comfortable with a leash or harness. However, in just a matter of days, she has learned how to go for a walk! She is excited to start walking more to get in shape. She is still learning to be comfortable and confident in the outside world though. At times, she can be very timid and does find safety in her kennel when life gets a little overwhelming. 

She would prefer to go to a home with a doggie door. Since she does not bark or cry/whimper, she has a hard time expressing when she needs to go to the bathroom. This is something that she is working on with her foster family (who do not have a doggie door), but it might suit her better if she has access in and out as she needs. 

Overall, Dixie is very sweet and loving. She has yet to find a human or dog that she’s not excited to meet! 

Dixie is up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped, we are waiting on her blood test results for valley fever, heartworm and is schedule to be spayed next week.
